After Evergreen, this gave the history of Paul Left opening for stories to be told I will start Tapestry right away to continue with this saga. Just arrived from USA through BM.Even if I haven t read the previous books of Werner Family saga, I was able to follow the plot A pleasant reading for a nice Sunday. The Ultimate Family SagaDesmond Tutu once said, You don t choose your family They are God s gift to you, as you are to them Belva Plain s Werner Family Saga is about the importance of family, and how the choices we make effect those within our immediate sphere of influence The first book in the series Evergreen tells the story of a young Polish Jew, named Anna who leaves the old country to pursue the dream of living in the new world America Through Anna s eyes we get a first hand glimpse of what life was like for European immigrants in New York City at the turn of the century As a stranger in a foreign land, Anna dreams of becoming a proper lady, and receiving an education Through a twist of fate, she is allowed into the world of the wealthy Werner family, and meets her soul mate, Paul Werner However, due to the constraints of society, Anna is forced to marry Joseph Friedman, a humble tradesman who is driven to live the Americandream Anna, the dutiful wife, seeks to help Joseph make his dreams reality But in the end, the choice she makes has a ripple effect which reaches across the generations of both the Friedman and Werner families Through the decades we see Anna rise from an illiterate immigrant to a wife mother and pillar of her community. In The Golden Cup you are introduced to a young Paul Werner, his Aunt Hattie, Uncle Daniel, Cousin Lea and extended family The author s intent with this novel is to give you the opportunity of hearing the story of Evergreen from the prospective of Paul Werner. In the subsequent novels, Tapestry , Harvest , and Heartwood the focus shifts to Anna and Joseph Friedman s daughter, Iris Stern and her relationship to the Werner family. As always, Belva Plain s novels transport you to a place and time which is rich in history and the drama of humanity I was introduced to Plain s novel Evergreen as a high school freshman in 1979 by our librarian, Jane Lambertson As each new installment of the series was published, I read with delight as I once again entered the world of Anna, Paul, Joseph, Maurice, Iris and Theo.Belva Plain is a third generation Jewish American who was reared in New York City She graduated with a degree in history from Barnard College She is the author of twenty three novels which are published by Random House Books. I am starting Book 3 Tapestry in this series by Belva Plain and am thoroughly enjoying them She is an engrossing storyteller and has you feeling as if you know the people in the Werner family. DNF d this one I ve got the other books in the Evergreen series and was disappointed in this one In the original book, there was no mention of Henrietta that I remember, or if there was, it was only a brief mention I m not sure why Plain focused on her character because Henrietta was on the bland side I was also not all that into Dan s character Paul Werner is in it, but is pretty much sidelined, at least he was in the section I got up to before stopping The plotting seemed rushed as well, so I m hoping the other three remaining books aren t like this one. 1895 1922 NYC THIS WAS A VERY HARD BOOK TO GET INTO AND TO FOLLOW ONCE YOU THOUGHTYOU KNEW WHAT IT WAS ABOUT i FINISHED IT AND STILL DID NOT KNOW WHAT THESTORY WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT. A generational family saga, set at the turn of the last century One of my favourite time periods to read about with the advent of electricity, telephones and automobiles The family does not see eye to eye on politics and social issues, with one branch being very active in various movements suffrage, tenement reform while the rest of the family grows their wealth in property acquisition and supplying the war effort In the end, blood is thicker than water. ^DOWNLOAD E-PUB ☠ The Golden Cup ↭ Popular EPub, The Golden Cup Author Belva Plain This Is Very Good And Becomes The Main Topic To Read, The Readers Are Very Takjup And Always Take Inspiration From The Contents Of The Book The Golden Cup, Essay By Belva Plain Is Now On Our Website And You Can Download It By Register What Are You Waiting For Please Read And Make A Refission For You
